WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAR
I was watching drifting videos, probably lone star videos and then just kept looking up videos of these jzx cars. I was so obsessed. I knew I wanted a 1j car, but when you make it a four door what is not to like. So I was on the hunt for a jzx90 for a little while. I actually had found one that I really liked for a hefty price tag of 20k. I really wanted one so I was going to pay the price. I sent an email and everything. I also was talking to someone in Japan who was about to send one over for 16k. So I was just about dead set on an x90. Then I got a message from a friend who showed me the add for my car. I told myself I wouldn’t go for an x81, I wanted newest I could get. But once I saw my x81 it was love at first sight. It had everything I wanted. The bn kit, the equips, manual trans, and the 1j. It was just a perfect car, and even after my countless beatings on it, it still is. Even though it looks way more rough than when I got it, it’s still the best car I’ve ever owned.
WHAT WAS THE MAIN GOAL WHEN THE BUILD STARTED
I wanted a street car I could rip on the track and rip on some back roads. I wanted to keep it clean and fairly simple. Unfortunately I lost a bit of the cleanliness lol.
DO YOU HAVE A UNIQUE STORY BEHIND THE CAR OR BUILD
Well I don’t have much unique stories I don’t think... the one story that I find one of the coolest is that I was actually contacted by the person who built this car. Her name is Kana Wantanabe. Super rad drifter our in Sapporo I believe. I posted a picture on the jzx world page and shortly after she sent me a message on Facebook telling me she built the car and sent me all kinds of photos of it and told me little secrets about it. I still hit her up sometimes for x81 advice lol.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS FOR THE CAR
The plans I have right now are repainting the car and putting a livery on it. Still have no idea what I want, but I can see something in my head. Cage and go single turbo to make like 400 whp. I would be happy. I just want a crazy looking street car that I can drive anywhere and have a blast on the track and drive it right back. It’s basically my daily now lol. So a crazy looking daily able street car.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY IF YOU COULD GO BACK
Well I would go back and take my homies advice and take off the bumpers before hitting that lap at grange. I would still have my full kit. Other than that, not really.
